[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071942] Re: [iwlwifi] Wifi roams too frequently

2013-10-22 Thread Matthieu Baerts
Hello,

I also have this problem but not with an Intel WiFi card and I confirm
that it's better with this patch.

@Mathieu: NM devs say that some changes should be made in wpa_supplicant too in
order to be less aggressive [1]
Fedora devs are using this patch:
http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/wpa_supplicant.git/tree/rh837402-less-aggressive-roaming.patch

list/2013-October/msg00020.html

** Summary changed:

Title:
  Wifi roams too frequently

Status in “network-manager” package in Ubuntu:
  In Progress

Bug description:
(This is very similar to bug #1057582 - but apport-collect told me to
  file a new bug.)

There are multiple access points here, and my laptop keeps switching
between them for no reason. It was really bad in Ubuntu 12.04, but
improved a little in 12.10. Still, it roams frequently enough to be

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071942] Re: [iwlwifi] Wifi roams too frequently

2013-10-07 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
So there's this commit upstream which might help a lot to avoid roaming
too aggressively when there is relatively good signal:

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/commit/?h=nm-0-9-8id=49f8da57ed18b62829919ba4f278b410642828ec

I'll go ahead and mark the next upload / package as fixing this bug
(since it will include this commit); but let's be extra careful and set
back this bug to New or Confirmed if there are still issues.

** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = In Progress

** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided = High

** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu)
 Assignee: (unassigned) = Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre (mathieu-tl)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1071942] Re: [iwlwifi] Wifi roams too frequently

2012-11-11 Thread Dima Ryazanov
It literally roams every 5 minutes - and disconnects for 5 seconds while
doing that. It's *very* annoying.
