Title:
printer does not print grey scale

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I have updated to 12.10 and have a new network printer HP Officejet
4500. I don't need to print in color, so I went to System Settings ->
Printers -> HP-Officejet-4500 -> Printer Options -> Output Mode: High
Quality Grayscale. Then Apply and OK. (Media Size if set to A4
Borderless 210x297mm since we use A4 paper here.)

I even logged out and turned the printer off and back on. Still a
color pdf file prints in color and NOT in black and white.

I have a second computer on the LAN which has 12.04 and I tried the
same pdf file from there. From 12.04 it prints black and white.
Clearly I am not going to upgrade that computer if I won't be able to
  print black and white.

  Thanks,
  Ilan
