The first is with the gnome control center - adjusting the brightness bar. The second way is to use keybord shortcuts for the monitor brightness. - In this case unity shows a wiget on the desktop with a bar for brightness. Unfortunally the bar status of both ways are not synchronized. For illustrating please look at the attached screenshot. Steps to reproduce: 1.
