[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1082187] Re: Asus “out of area” warning in the middle of the screen
We're closing this bug since there has not been a response from the original reporter. However, the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. If you're not the original reporter, we'd prefer you file a new bug report. Some tips: * Report X.org bugs via the command: `ubuntu-bug xorg` * Test against the latest development Ubuntu. http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/ Bugs marked as affecting the development version tend to get priority attention. * The `xdiagnose` utility has functionality for enabling debugging and analyzing a few common X problems. * Tag your bugs with the Ubuntu versions you have reproduced the issue in. * See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting for tips on writing good bug reports. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082187 Title: Asus “out of area” warning in the middle of the screen Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Linux tux-p4 3.7.0-3-generic #9-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 20 22:40:43 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux vendor release number: 1130 X.Org version: 1.13.0 What happens: When starting the PC a blue window appears on the middle of the screen displaying in German an “out of area” message (see attached image: asus-out_of_area.jpg). [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1082187] Re: Asus “out of area” warning in the middle of the screen
Hmm, well the modeline itself doesn't appear to have changed: X.Org X Server 1.11.3: [86.127] (II) RADEON(0): Modeline "1680x1050"x60.0 146.25 1680 1960 2136 2240 1050 1053 1059 1089 -hsync +vsync (65.3 kHz) X.Org X Server 1.13.0: [25.032] (II) RADEON(0): Modeline "1680x1050"x60.0 146.25 1680 1960 2136 2240 1050 1053 1059 1089 -hsync +vsync (65.3 kHz eP) The eP difference just means it's the preferred mode from edid. So, this rules out it being an altered modeline. ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xorg-server (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082187 Title: Asus “out of area” warning in the middle of the screen Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Linux tux-p4 3.7.0-3-generic #9-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 20 22:40:43 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux vendor release number: 1130 X.Org version: 1.13.0 What happens: When starting the PC a blue window appears on the middle of the screen displaying in German an “out of area” message (see attached image: asus-out_of_area.jpg). Reboot into a 12.04 or 12.10 livecd, collect /var/log/Xorg.0.log and the output of dmesg, and attach here. If the error message really means "out of range", then perhaps the modeline being used has changed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1082187 Title: Asus “out of area” warning in the middle of the screen Status in “xorg” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Linux tux-p4 3.7.0-3-generic #9-Ubuntu SMP Tue Nov 20 22:40:43 UTC 2012 i686 i686 i686 GNU/Linux vendor release number: 1130 X.Org version: 1.13.0 What happens: When starting the PC a blue window appears on the middle of the screen displaying in German an “out of area” message (see attached image: asus-out_of_area.jpg).
