Bug description:
I have 12.04 on a macbook pro 8,2; to run bcm4331 i used all methods
  on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx . Getting
b43-fwcutter from software center didn't work; so I tried the no
internet access method and got the *.deb package from a 10.04 cd. This
didn't work either so after hours on #ubuntu IRC i found another *.deb
package; which accepted the propreiatery firmware from broadcom. I'm
not sure if this is a bug, only filing this cause
https://launchpad.net/~josephjamesmills suggested i should. Hope it
  helps.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1084804] Re: BCM4331 was quite hard to get working

2012-11-29 Thread Joseph
even after installing linux-firmware-nonfree and firmware-b43-installer It was
still not getting all firmware that was needed.
Irc conversation happens on November 29th 2012
maybe this should be moved to jockey-gtk or to linux-firmware-nonfree and
firmware-b43-installer

** Also affects: linux-firmware-nonfree (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New
