Title:
X doesn't load after fglrx install

Status in “fglrx-installer” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
It may be a duplicate but I haven't found anything similar. I am
reporting here since this is an ubuntu package problem although I have
tried the official stable and beta releases provided by AMD as well.

I installed fglrx and then reboot it but the system hangs.

I also tried using the command aticonfig --initial -f but again no
  effect.

I entered as root and used startx and here I provide the error log. It
seems that there is a problem with reading the VBIOS.

Same issue on Toshiba Satellite L850-1PD. A possible solution should be
this:

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problems_with_fglrx#X_server_gives_an_error_.22Invalid_video_BIOS_signature.22_after_installing_fglrx

but my BIOS has no related options.

2013-01-02 Thread RAFAEL MARIN PEREZ
I entered as root and used startx and here I provide the error log. It
seems that there is a problem with reading the VBIOS.

$ sudo apt-cache policy fglrx

Exactly the same problem. I tried also on an upstream kernel with the
same results.
