[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1102044] Re: Jawi support

2013-04-08 Thread Bryce Harrington
Thanks for contributing this enhancement, Muhammad. One of us will
review when we get a chance.

Meantime, I would recommend also sending this patch upstream (to
freedesktop.org).

Title:
  Jawi support

Status in “xkeyboard-config” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Hi,

I am the new maintainer of Jawi keyboard layout support (Jawi is a
type of script that looks like arabic that is commonly used for Malay
language in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia) and we have a problem
with having to repair the keyboard whenever evdev.xml is overridden.

Our propose if to have the patch with the distribution (or updates)
for evdev.xml in Ubuntu so that we do not need to keep repairing with
our own scripts when evdev.xml is overriden and it will look a lot
  cleaner in the system.

If our patch is accepted, we do not need to have to maintain the
scripts and on the worse-case scenario, we would have to maintain the
  ms symbol only.

  Thank you for reading.

  Regards,
  Muhammad Nuzaihan Bin Kamal Luddin

Attached is the ms symbol file. ms stands for malay (malay

Character va (Unicode U+06CF, character U06CF) needs to be updated to
reflect the other arabic typeface.

Else, formatting would be broken in Libreoffice and more.

Update ms symbols file.

Fixed ZWNJ keymapping for Jawi (qwerty) as ZWNJ is one of the most used
key for constructing a jawi word.
