Title:
Sometimes key presses get stuck leading to repeated characters

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “xorg-server” package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
Since updating to raring from quantal, two of my machines (a
MacBookPro 5,1 and a MacBookAir 4,1) have exhibited this behavior. It
seems to be more of a problem the faster I type, but that just
increases the frequency of keypresses. Ocassionally while typing a key
that I have pressed seems to stay stuck down and further input while
that is going on is missed. The character repeats maybe 10 times, and
then everything is back to normal.

I don't have a way to reproduce this reliably, sometimes there are
  many hours between seeing it.

One data point I do have is that it even happens when using synergy to
control the raring box from a quantal machine, which is why I am
reporting this against xorg and not the kernel where it might be
construed as a USB or keyboard issue.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1152304] Re: Sometimes key presses get stuck leading to repeated characters

2013-05-15 Thread Andrew Nenakhov
I'm affected by this as well.

I'm also experiencing slight short lockups approx every once in a minute
when keyboard stops responding and mouse cursor stops moving (easily
reproduced by moving cursor slowly in curcular pattern, after several
circles it just 'hangs' and stops moving for a second, then works
normally). I have a feeling these issues are related, perhaps I'll
fileseparate bug report for this.

Ok D'oh... for me it was the Secure Attention Key feature of Trinity (KDE3)
KDM.. somehow the tsak background process was b0rked with the last upgrade to
kdebase-trinity-bin-3.5.13-2debian0~pre49+9 .. thankfully it can be disabled.
...Sorry for the noise C-;

2013-03-14 Thread Maarten Lankhorst
If the kernel hangs, it might look like a key is stuck, but that doesn't
mean it's a xorg bug.

For now I'm hesitant to call it a xorg bug, as the few times I've seen
similar behavior were the result of the kernel.

** Also affects: linux (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu)
   Status: New = Invalid
