[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1155934] Re: Firefox does NOT copy images when History is set to 'Never remember'

2018-11-23 Thread Paul White
Upstream report closed "RESOLVED FIXED" on 2013-03-18
Target release - Firefox 22
Confirmed working Ubuntu 18.04 and Firefox 63
Closing by marking "Fix Released"

** Changed in: firefox (Ubuntu)

Title:
Firefox does NOT copy images when History is set to 'Never remember'

Status in Mozilla Firefox:
  Fix Released
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
tested with firefox 19.0.2 on both ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04

When the preferences -> Privacy ->History is set to "Remember history"
I can right-click on an image on a website, then left-click on 'Copy
image', and then paste this image into other programs.

However, when the History is set to 'Never remember history' a right-
click on a picture still offers the option 'Copy image' - it is NOT
greyed out -, I can click on it, but there is nothing captured which I
can paste somewhere! (Or what can be pasted had been copied
  previously).

It does not seem to make sense to prevent such copying, because the
image can still be saved to a file (and if it was intended, then the
menu option should have been greyed out)

Note: I know the package installed is just plain 'firefox' , but the
site does not allow me to enter this, as there are "Too many matches.
Please try to narrow your search." Well, how? (Sorry, but this messy
package selector somehow resulted in 'geany' as package)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1155934]

2013-03-17 Thread Ehsan-mozilla
This is not a regression and as far as I can tell, this has never worked
properly on Linux. The problem is that on Linux we have both the
selection and the global clipboards, so
nsClipboardPrivacyHandler::PrepareDataForClipboard gets called twice,
and the second call to nsITransferable::AddDataFlavor fails since the
NS_MOZ_DATA_FROM_PRIVATEBROWSING flavor already exists on the
transferable, and then we bail out of the function and do not attempt to
do anything further.

The reason that copying text works is that we don't attempt to set the
selection clipboard data when you copy text, so the second AddDataFlavor
call is never made.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1155934] Re: Firefox does NOT copy images when History is set to 'Never remember'

2013-03-16 Thread StevenD811
Confirmed this in Firefox 19.0.2 in Kubuntu 12.04. This behavior is
present both with Never remember history set in preferences and if
Private Browsing is entered while Remember history is set in
preferences. I also checked this on my Windows 7 install (also running
Firefox 19.0.2), and this does not appear to be occurring over there.

Title:
Firefox does NOT copy images when History is set to 'Never remember'

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
tested with firefox 19.0.2 on both ubuntu 10.04 and 12.04

When the preferences - Privacy -History is set to Remember history
I can right-click on an image on a website, then left-click on 'Copy
image', and then paste this image into other programs.

However, when the History is set to 'Never remember history' a right-
click on a picture still offers the option 'Copy image' - it is NOT
greyed out -, I can click on it, but there is nothing captured which I
can paste somewhere! (Or what can be pasted had been copied
  previously).

It does not seem to make sense to prevent such copying, because the
image can still be saved to a file (and if it was intended, then the
menu option should have been greyed out)

Note: I know the package installed is just plain 'firefox' , but the
site does not allow me to enter this, as there are Too many matches.
Please try to narrow your search. Well, how? (Sorry, but this messy
package selector somehow resulted in 'geany' as package)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1155934] Re: Firefox does NOT copy images when History is set to 'Never remember'

2013-03-16 Thread StevenD811
This appears to be affecting upstream since I tested the download from
Firefox's website and the issue occurred there as well. Marked as
affecting Mozilla Firefox, but need to eat before I can file a bug
report in their tracker.

** Also affects: firefox

This was originally reported at

In Firefox 19.0.2, when Private Browsing is started through Tools-Start
Private Browsing or when Preferences-Privacy-History is set to Never
remember history, the Copy Image button in the right-click menu will
not copy the selected image to the clipboard as it should. The contents
of the clipboard if any remain unchanged.

The original reporter on Launchpad tested this in Ubuntu 10.04 and
12.04. In addition I tested it in Kubuntu 12.04 with both the package
from Ubuntu's repository and the .tar.bz2 on Firefox's website. I was
able to reproduce the bug in both cases. I also tested this in Windows 7
but it appeared to work as expected there.
