[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1159414] Re: Xorg freeze - GPU lockup
I have built a kernel from the upstream mainlinekernel following this doc: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/GitKernelBuild The kernel was version 3.9-rc4. Booting in to this v3.9 kernel has solved my problem. Looks like there were a lot of commits in the drivers/gpu/drm/radeon area going from v3.8-rc7 to the v3.9-rc4 kernel, including these three commits against the radeon r6xx driver: ca57802 drm/radeon: halt engines before disabling MC (6xx/7xx) f13f773 drm/radeon: use status regs to determine what to reset (6xx/7xx) d3cb781 drm/radeon: rework GPU reset on r6xx/r7xx I shall keep using my v3.9 custom kernel until the v3.9 kernel is adopted by raring. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1159414 Title: Xorg freeze - GPU lockup Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: The following GPU lokcup occurs when I boot ubuntu 13.04: [ 47.900046] radeon :01:00.0: GPU lockup CP stall for more than 1msec [ 47.900053] radeon :01:00.0: GPU lockup (waiting for 0x0003 last fence id 0x0001) I switched to the Mainline kernels as per the Wiki and found I can run kernel 3.8.0-030800rc3-generic with no problems, but any attempt to run a later version of the kernel results in the lockup shown above.
