Same deal here. Ubuntu GNOME 13.04 64 bit. No power indicator on Toshiba Z835 ultrabook. I have installed a few other applications, but nothing I would expect to interfere. All extensions have been disabled. No change whether I'm on battery on AC power. I do still receive low power notifications through the notifications subsystem.
