[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1168036] Re: hp4620 prints junk

2013-04-12 Thread Narain Scott
I also have bug 1167484 opened with the hplip folks. Like I said, I'm
new to Ubuntu and I was not shure whether this was a lplip problem or a
CUPS problem. My suspicion is that it's a probable user error but I've
run out of ideas so I've turned to the experts. Thank you.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1168036] Re: hp4620 prints junk

2013-04-12 Thread Till Kamppeter
Marked your second bug report as duplicate of this one as it is about
the same problem. Most probably there is going something wrong in HPLIP,
therefore I have assigned this bug to HPLIP, both the Ubuntu package and
the upstream project at HP.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1168036] Re: hp4620 prints junk

2013-04-12 Thread Narain Scott
Sanjay,
I tried your suggestion with poor results. Maybe that's a clue. I attached the
printer to the USB and redirected the cat as you said but the printer did not
detect anything. I tried waking the printer with the power button and tried the
cat again but nothing happened. I removed the printers from hp-systray and
added the printer as a USB printer and tried again. Nothing. I attempted to
print a test page as well also with no results. It's as if the printer does not
see the USB connection. However, I can set up the printer with the USB
connected and give it the WEP code and it connects through WIFI. So, I'm not
clear what's going on! I set up the network queues again so I'm back to where I
was before this USB experiment. I hate to suggest this but it's been my
experience that hardware and software problems are often missdiagnosed as on
another. But the printer works fine from Win7 on the same PC so I doubt it's
hardware. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion.
  Narain
