[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1172098] Re: Xorg freeze

2014-01-08 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Brittany, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1172098] Re: Xorg freeze

2013-05-03 Thread Timo Aaltonen
The opensource video driver you're using doesn't support power
management, that's why the battery life is so bad. I suggest you to
install 12.04.1 and the proprietary 'fglrx' driver which should give
better battery life. Newer version of the driver doesn't support your
graphics hardware anymore, so any newer version will be worse.

but I'll move this bugreport over to the opensource driver for now

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu)
