Title:
Nautilus 3.6 list view adjusts size of columns frequently

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When viewing files in list view with Nautilus, the columns change their width
back and forth when:
  -switching to another window
  -switching back to Nautilus
  -moving the Nautilus window
  -Alt-tabing between windows
-right clicking to bring up the context menu
  -clicking on the global menu
-clicking on any of the options buttons
  -and more!

Basically doing anything but clicking on a folder or file will cause
the columns to resize themselves. But this does not happen all the
time... it seems like only when viewing a directory with a substantial
number of files and folders, though I have folders with hundreds of
images in them and it does not happen, so it's tough to pin down when
it occurs. It does happen when viewing my home directory with hidden
  files shown.

Changing the theme to Highcontrast seems to fix things, but that's not
  very pretty.

A similar bug was reported for 12.10, which was marked solved:
  https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1073913
...but apparently the problem is back.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1172573] Re: Nautilus 3.6 list view adjusts size of columns frequently

2013-04-29 Thread Marinus
I get the same on the ubuntu 13.04 64. It seem the problem is with the
Type column. You need need at least two different file types in the
folder to trigger the bug and hiding the Type column stops the annoying
behaviour. But I have seen the Modified column also resize at the
smallest provocation.

The Sort order also seems to play some roll, in folders that the
Modified column also resize the problem does not go away when hiding the
Type column until you change the sort order.

2013-04-25 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
