[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1239351] Re: Hang or crash after installing nvidia-319 (amd64 only)
OK, make.log seems to show a successful build. kern.log seems to show an error happening on boot: Oct 14 20:05:53 saucy64-test kernel: [ 14.816378] NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed! (0x26:0x38:1170) Oct 14 20:05:53 saucy64-test kernel: [ 14.816390] NVRM: rm_init_adapter(0) failed And that probably explains why Xorg.0.log couldn't find any screens. ** Summary changed: - Hang or crash after installing nvidia-319 (amd64 only) + Nvidia driver hangs on boot: NVRM: RmInitAdapter failed! [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1239351] Re: Hang or crash after installing nvidia-319 (amd64 only)
Is the nvidia driver failing to build? Is it complete in /var/lib/dkms/... ? The attachment in comment #1 does not show any nvidia driver installed. So please look for logs in: /var/lib/dkms/nvidia* ... and attach them here. If it is installed, please confirm with dpkg -l | grep nvidia and also try to get some kind of log from the failed kernel boot. Or even photos. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-319 (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-319 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1239351 Title: Hang or crash after installing nvidia-319 (amd64 only) Status in “nvidia-graphics-drivers-319” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: A fresh install of Saucy/amd64 from either the final beta or today's daily build fails to boot after installing the proprietary nvidia driver.
