This should also apply to switching between different images. What happened instead: The described effect applies especial to images of the same size, because the shape of the image doesn't change, the only moving part is the EOG interface. When switching between images the status bar flickers. The reason is that it displays for some milliseconds the string 'Opening image "file:///home'. Suggested solution: Display the 'Opening image' string only if the next image hasn't been loaded after a certain amount of time (1 second).
