Title:
  HTC One M8 mounted as gphoto not mtp

Status in libmtp package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  On one an HTC One M8 auto-mounts in gvfs with an "mtp://" location. On
  the other (the computer used to report this bug) it mounts with a
  "gphoto2://" location.

  Pressing CTRL+L in Nautilus and entering the appropriate "mtp://"
  location manually mounts the device correctly and it works just fine,
  but leaves the "gphoto://" mounts in the left-hand panel.

  "gphoto://" is not appropriate for this device and does not support
  reading and writing of all file types.

  I have another computer with 14.04 installed which mounts the phone
  with an "mtp://" location automatically. I'm not sure why my other
  computer is working but I don't remember doing anything to make it
  work and they appear to have the same package versions installed for
  mtp and gvfs packages - although I don't know if I checked them all as
  I'm not familiar with which packages are used.

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04
  Package: gvfs 1.20.3-0ubuntu1.1
  ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-54.91-generic 3.13.11-ckt20

  EcryptfsInUse: Yes
  InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-05-07 (762 days ago)

  SourcePackage: gvfs
  UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to trusty on 2014-04-28 (406 days ago)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1463190] Re: HTC One M8 mounted as gphoto not mtp

2015-08-21 Thread Phill
It's possible to add a `udev` rule to fix this, so I'm guessing `udev`
is the more appropriate package.

Here are the rules for this and the Tesco Hudl while we're at it.

```
# HTC One M8
ATTR{idVendor}==0bb4, ATTR{idProduct}==0f25, SYMLINK+=libmtp-%k,
ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}=1, ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}=1
# Tesco Hudl
ATTR{idVendor}==0e79, ATTR{idProduct}==5008, SYMLINK+=libmtp-%k,
ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}=1, ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}=1
```
