Title:
  Audio Issues Across Multiple Applications

Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 15.04

Multiple packages (tested Audacity, Openshot, Kdenlive, and LMMS)

I'm having trouble working with any kind of software that mandates
audio editing (Audacity, Openshot, Kdenlive, etc.)

Since upgrading to Ubuntu 15.04, I've been running into issues with a
lot of the audio editing software that I've been using. Audacity has
the issue of the seek speeding through the entirety of the audio file
while emitting a static buzzing sound. The same thing happens on LMMS.
On video editors that I've been working with, Openshot and Kdenlive,
any audio file I put in is played out of sync to the point that the
file is truncated early towards the end of the clip. I've also tested
this on Unity and Plasma, so I know it isn't the desktop environment
  impacting anything.

I have no clue what software package could be causing this, but I have
  a feeling it's likely something on Pulseaudio's end. It's likely a
Pulseaudio issue because all of the issues in these packages have to
do with audio and they all rely on Pulseaudio.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1494119] Re: Audio Issues Across Multiple Applications

2015-10-01 Thread Michael Nguyen
To clarify, the same issue happens in OpenShot. The audio cuts off
early, only the really annoying buzzing and glitching at the end doesn't
occur. To add on, recently, a new symptom appeared, in both
applications, when seeking to a point in the audio, there's a buzzing, a
click, and it starts the song from the beginning instead of where it
should be.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1494119] Re: Audio Issues Across Multiple Applications

2015-09-27 Thread Michael Nguyen
Alsa-Info.sh Output: http://pastebin.com/epaPtf1h

"turn off IEC958 Default PCM so that pulseaudio can set to use alc1500
digital and your application can use alc1500 analog exclusively

Simple mixer control 'IEC958 Default PCM',0
  Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined
  Playback channels: Mono
  Mono: Playback [off]"

This doesn't work. Disabling the default PCM results in zero sound from
Pulseaudio reliant applications like Chrome, there's a major crackling
in the background, and applications like Kdenlive just pop up an error
stating that (SDL failed to open audio: No available audio device).

This might be of relevance since I stated that I've experienced these symptoms
across programs:

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1494119] Re: Audio Issues Across Multiple Applications

2015-09-12 Thread Michael Nguyen
Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately setting the device manually on
ALSA produces no sound. The two sound devices I have on my system are
onboard audio (ALC1150 Analog and ALC1150 Digital). Setting it to
digital produces no sound, and setting it to analog pops up an error
(SDL failed to open audio: No available audio device). I'm using the
3.5mm jack on my motherboard (I believe it's analog).
