[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1561803] Re: GNOME Videos shows menubar instead of AppMenu on the CSD Headerbar
right, if somebody wants to work on a patch for it that would be welcome ** Changed in: totem (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1561803 Title: GNOME Videos shows menubar instead of AppMenu on the CSD Headerbar Status in totem package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The version of GNOME Videos in Ubuntu repos displays menubar and not AppMenu on the CSD headerbar. I understand that Canonical have patched GNOME Videos (totem) to display a menubar in the global menu/window decoration for Unity and leave the AppMenu displayed for Gnome Shell. But the Ubuntu patches are supposed to have effect only for Unity, not on other GNOME based desktops. However, this is not how the patch works now. For every other desktop environment (especially GNOME based ones like Budgie, Pantheon, etc) this patch breaks the application look and feel by displaying an 'out of place' menubar under the CSD headerbar. That's just plain wrong. The logic should be - "for all desktop environments use CSD EXCEPT Unity" Even for Unity the patch should respect if the environment variable GTK_CSD=1 is set i.e. force the use of CSD apps in Unity. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1561803] Re: GNOME Videos shows menubar instead of AppMenu on the CSD Headerbar
I've added a screenshot showing how GNOME Videos should look under a desktop other than Unity 7 (especially other GNOME based desktops like Budgie, Pantheon, etc). The screenshot's from GNOME Videos running on Budgie desktop. I tinkered with the following gsettings value in org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.xsettings : {'Gtk/ShellShowsAppMenu': <0>, 'Gtk/ShellShowsMenubar': <1>, 'Gtk/DecorationLayout': <'menu:minimize, maximize, close'>} Tried different combinations of 'Gtk/ShellShowsAppMenu': <0>, 'Gtk/ShellShowsMenubar': <1> to get it right. It seems the culprit is a bug in the patch adding menubar for GNOME Videos: https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu- desktop/totem/ubuntu/view/head:/debian/patches/0001-Add-a-traditional- menubar.patch ** Attachment added: "GNOME Videos.png" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/totem/+bug/1561803/+attachment/4615142/+files/GNOME%20Videos.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to totem in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1561803 Title: GNOME Videos shows menubar instead of AppMenu on the CSD Headerbar Status in totem package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The version of GNOME Videos in Ubuntu repos displays menubar and not AppMenu on the CSD headerbar.
