They're disabled because the work to get the tests running was never completed (and in fact, has bit-rotted quite significantly since nobody is responsible for it now). The same is true for Firefox too.

The latter is used by dpkg-source to generate the "Testsuite: autopkgtest" field in the .dsc file, and (AFAIK) is used by autopkgtest to know which tests to run. It's absent, so the tests aren't getting run. Please could you ensure that debian/tests/control is in the uploaded source package so that the tests are run?
