Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Coming from a 17.04 install and typing do-release-upgrade -d on the
  command line results in multi-monitor positioning information being
  lost.

  I have two monitors, one is positioned below the other but on boot
  into 17.10, after the upgrade, the monitors are positioned side-by-
  side.
