[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1735062] Re: Xorg freeze
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 17.10 (artful) reached end-of-life on July 19, 2018. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. I probably solved this issue with: 1. Edit /etc/default/grub -Changed line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" into: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash video=SVIDEO-1:d" 2. sudo update-grub 3. sudo grub-install /dev/sdX 4. reboot https://askubuntu.com/questions/893817/boot-very-slow-because-of-drm- kms-helper-errors/916112 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1735062 Title: Xorg freeze Status in xorg package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The problem is a very short graphics freeze. I have the exact same problem after installing a fresh version of 17.10 with Xubuntu on 2 laptops with the same graphics card running the i915-driver. It happens randomly. The desktop just freezes for some seconds. Previously running 16.04 with no problem.
