I can reliably reproduce the issue after installing kubuntu. As
suggested by Chris in comment #7, using custom dialog boxes works around
the issue.

Temporary workaround is to modify setting in Tools -> Options ->
LibreOffice -> General and Check 'Use LibreOffice dialogue boxes'. See
