You can clear the cache by going to chrome://settings/clearBrowserData. I am quite sure that the issue has been fixed in the new Chromium (for example I can not reproduce the bug on Google Maps anymore), but the havoc wreaked by the issue is still here. This sounds like it could be NVIDIA-specific. Most interestingly, the distortion persist even when downloading a picture and viewing it with, e.g. Eye of GNOME locally.
