It's seems like there is a progress on getting Qualcomm Venus decoder
works on Snapdragon-based laptops so this feature could be useful for

I asked on the pi forum if they could help with the upstream bug report
https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=66=233552 .  I like
the pi, but the people that make it are obnoxious.  They are not going
to help.

I posted some more patches from endless os in that thread.
