After sliding up or hitting enter the screen stays purple with the taskbar visible. I can click the application shortcuts on the taskbar but nothing happens afterwards.It doesn't happen every time, only once out of every 5 to 10 times. I did interpret "I have disabled Ubuntu from requiring my password after
the screen turns off" as automatic login/no password. Maybe that's
incorrect.
So a few questions:
1. Does your login have a password and/or is it configured for automatic
login?
2. Is the dock ("taskbar") visible on the "landing page"?
3. Does re-locking (Super+L) and re-unlocking the system get around the
problem?
4. Please run 'apport-collect 1809517' to send us more information about
the system.

Bug description:
I recently upgraded to the newest 18.10 I have disabled Ubuntu from
requiring my password after the screen turns off due to inactivity but
I'm still taken to the landing page as if I needed to unlock my

That's like saying a flat tire is the same as bad wheel bearings on a vehicle because they're both on the wheel.
