It's probably a bug in totem, does it has the same issue if you do
$ totem-video-thumbnailer somevideo.mkv bug.png
then look at the generated image?

Bug description:
Thumbnails generated by Nautilus have a weird purple tint, presumably
some color channel is missing. These are HEVC/H.265-encoded videos
decoded into Planar 4:2:0 YUV 10-bit LE video at 1280x720 resolution.
Same tint appears at all Nautilus zoom levels.
