Thanks for reporting your issue with the libreoffice snap.
Unfortunately, snaps are restricted from accessing files in hidden
folders because this is often where other applications keep their
configuration files. If you still need to access these files with
libreoffice, you should use the libreoffice installed from apt, rather
than the snap, as this should work just fine.

Title:
LibreOffice Snap (6.4.0.3; 2/10/2020) can't open documents from
  ".hidden" directories

Status in libreoffice package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix

Bug description:
When in Nautilus, trying to open (double-clicking) any file associated
  with LibreOffice generates this error:

  "Access to /home/MyName/.LevelOne/Reports/2020-01-01_Report.xls File
  .xls was denied."

The same behavior happens if you already have a Libre app (Calc,
Writer, etc.) running, and try to use the Open file dialog. This
occurs even though Tools-> Options-> General-> "Use Libre Dialogs" is
unchecked. (Also, of course, Nautilus Show Hidden Files option on.)

All file/dir owner:group permissions were checked and are user level
  (not owned by root:root).

Renaming all directories in the file path to remove the leading dot
(.) allows the files to open normally and Libre works as expected.
(Unfortunately, there about 175 files/directories I'm working on.)

LibreOffice was installed through official Ubuntu Software Store - Canonical
(LibreOffice Snap Store (6.4.0.3; 2/10/2020).
