[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1877434] Re: Slow Gnome 3.36 overall experience

2020-05-11 Thread Bill Niakas
Of course, my apologies.

While i was researching the i noticed that i had a failed service
(systemctl --failed). The failed service was upower and when i tried to
restart/stop/disable it i was getting errors. The removal of the package
upower resulted to removal of gnome desktop. Reinstalling gnomr desktop
didn't fix the problem. Only after seeing the output of

ldd usr/lib/upower/upowerd

i noticed that there was a missing library which i found it in the file
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libu/libusbmuxd/libusbmuxd4_1.0.10-2_amd64.deb

Was that used by some extension?

Can you please detail what "the problem" was, or where you got that
info?

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1877434] Re: Slow Gnome 3.36 overall experience

2020-05-10 Thread Bill Niakas
As it appears the problem persisted. The problem was in the upower
service and i managed to fix it by installing the file containing the
missing libusbmuxd.so.4 file from
http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/libu/libusbmuxd/libusbmuxd4_1.0.10-2_amd64.deb

Now everything works as it should

2020-05-08 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

Please:

1. Uninstall all gnome-shell extensions, other than those with "Ubuntu"
in their name, and reboot. We need to exclude extensions first because
they cause so many bugs. And you have a lot of extensions installed:

'appindicatorsupp...@rgcjonas.gmail.com', 'window-list@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'sta...@gnome-shell.2jk.org', 'weather-
extens...@xeked.com', 'pixel-sa...@deadalnix.me', 'dash-to-
d...@micxgx.gmail.com', 'alternate-tab@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'auto-move-windows@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com',
'Extension_Update_Notifier@adel.gadl...@gmail.com', 'launch-new-instance
@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'places-menu@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'drive-menu@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'gnome-shell-trash-extension',
'windowsnaviga...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'user-
th...@gnome-shell-extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'ubuntu-
appindicat...@ubuntu.com', 'transparent-top-...@zhanghai.me',
'coverflowalt...@palatis.blogspot.com', 'mediapla...@patapon.info',
'gsconn...@andyholmes.github.io', 'arc-m...@linxgem33.com', 'ubuntu-

'remove-dropdown-arr...@mpdeimos.com', 'fully-transparent-top-
bar@aunetx', 'dash-to-pa...@jderose9.github.com', 'desktop-
icons@csoriano'

2. If the problem still happens with no extensions after rebooting then
please run:

   lspci -k > lspcik.txt
   journalctl -b0 > journal.txt

and attach the resulting text files here.
