[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1890650] Re: Activities button, Alt-F1, and super not working after upgrade to 20.04

2020-08-09 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The issue was probably caused by one of these:

org.gnome.shell enabled-extensions ['permanent-
notificati...@bonzini.gnu.org', 'places-menu@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'panel-
o...@berend.de.schouwer.gmail.com', 'user-theme@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'window-list@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'launch-new-instance@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'native-window-placement@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'screenshot-window-sizer@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'workspace-indicator@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'windowsNavigator@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'drive-menu@gnome-shell-
extensions.gcampax.github.com', 'audio-output-switcher@anduchs',
'disconnect-w...@kgshank.net']

In future please be sure to remove extensions before reporting bugs to
gnome-shell.

Title:
Activities button, Alt-F1, and super not working after upgrade to
  20.04

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
If I hit the Activities button, all open applications are hidden.
There is no way to get the applications to display again. The
application I select is started, and shows up on the vertical bar in
the left with an orange dot by it.

What magic is needed to bring the applications back?

They are still there. I see them when I go to log out. Logging out is
the only option for restoring Gnome.

The same problem happens if I hit Alt-F1 or Super. Shouldn't these
  toggle?

The only way to get a screen shot it with my phone. Sorry for the
quality. You can see on the left that I started gimp.Up to 19.10, when
I used "Activities", it would launch the app and then return to my
  running applications.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1890650] Re: Activities button, Alt-F1, and super not working after upgrade to 20.04

2020-08-07 Thread Andy Howell
Daniel,

Thanks for you help. The gsettings showed that there some bindings
involving "super". I tried those an they all worked. I tried
"Activities" again and it worked.

I did remove some packages after I noticed the problem. I've attached
that history in case it helps someone else with this issue.

2020-08-06 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Please run these commands:

  dpkg -l > packages.txt
  gsettings list-recursively org.gnome.shell > settings.txt

and then attach the resulting text files here.

Please also try selecting 'Ubuntu on Wayland' from the login screen and
tell us if that has the same issue.
