Title:
Login name ellipsis/dot-dot-dot (scaling too large to fit the text in)
on login screen using mutter 3.36.4-0ubuntu0.20.04.2

Status in mutter package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
Recently, my Ubuntu 20.04.1 login screen started showing my username
as a dot-dot-dot, with a vertical scroll, despite being my user name
only four letters (i.e.: kopa). It is the only user account in the
  system too.

I've attached a screenshot of the login screen where the issue can be
  seen.

GDM here is version 3.34.1-1ubuntu1. I'm running Xorg (no wayland). No
changes to its configuration were made.

I can provide whatever extra information that could be useful in
  diagnosing this problem.

  Thank you.

Please try the fix for bug 1892440 when it's available. It isn't yet
though...
