Though hardly an ideal solution, I can confirm that this bug is no
longer present on 20.04.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1958435] Re: Icons on Dock get stuck in Dragging Mode

2022-01-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This is probably a duplicate of one of these:

  bug 1847102
  bug 1867613
  bug 1846477

but you will need at least Ubuntu 20.04 to ensure you have all those
fixes.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1958435] Re: Icons on Dock get stuck in Dragging Mode

2022-01-19 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks for the bug report.

It appears gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock for 18.04 has not been
updated in 3 years. This is unsurprising as we usually focus on the most
recent releases including the most recent LTS which was 20.04.

Please try Ubuntu 20.04 when you can and tell us if the problem still
exists there:

  https://ubuntu.com/download/desktop

Or even better try live booting the preview of 22.04:

  http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/
