Bug description:
Problem:
The X screen is garbled during startup before the login dialog is displayed;
doing a vt switch clears the corruption and restores proper functionality.

Original Report:

This issue is new to Kubuntu Intrepid Alpha 5, i.e., everything still worked
correctly with Alpha 4. I can reproduce it reliably by booting the Live CD
(x86_64). While usplash shows up correctly, after X has loaded and while KDE is
loading the screen becomes garbled - just the mouse pointer shows correctly
(see attached photo).
This can be worked around by switching to any text console and switching back
using Ctrl+Alt+F7.
