Is this still a issue, KapteinPyn? Could you try with Ubuntu 12.04?
Ubuntu 12.10 has gstreamer-1.0 on development too.

  Black screen when maximized from minimised state

Bug description:
  1. Using Ubuntu 9.10 64 Bit

  2. Not sure

  3. Expected Movie Player to play video when it was maximized again

  4. When player is playing video normally everything works well. When
  you minimize the player, then maximize it again, the video is now just
  a black screen while sound still plays.
