Title:
  after upgrade to karmic during audio playback a high-frequency
  whistling can be heard

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: pulseaudio

  with pulseaudio configured for 5.1 sound output there is a high-frequency 
whistle when playing audio files, independent from the application. when i turn 
the 5.1 sound output to normal stereo output the whistle is gone.
  sound onboard: (Mainboard)ALiveSATA2-GLAN (Soundchip)Premium Level HD Audio 
(ALC888 Audio Codec)
  with a Creative 5.1 speaker system
