Title:
Stop resolving symbolic links to folder paths so that profiles can be
  migrated easily

Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
I have a habit of storing my browser, thunderbird profiles in my
Dropbox folder so that they're synced across PCs. I am sure many
  others have similar arrangements.

Now linking a folder in .thunderbird e.g. sadffasf.default works to an
extent. what happens inside thunderbird is that if the folder has been
linked then the link is resolved, ruling out the point of a symbolic
  link.

Now next time you change the location and relink the folder, the
original folder preferences still remain since they were resolved and
it makes the migration a hassle. It happens for each email account
that is setup as well as the local folders account.

So the solution would be to prevent thunderbird from resolving the
  link.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 881344] Re: Stop resolving symbolic links to folder paths so that profiles can be migrated easily

2018-07-02 Thread gf
Hello Eshwar,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2011 and there have been several versions of
Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the
ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 881344

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for
this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
