[Desktop-packages] [Bug 887440] Re: Firefox hangs in Oneiric

2012-03-01 Thread stuartianmac
OK I closed all my tabs (some of which had been open through the course
of several FF updates), reopened them and the issue has gone away.

Title:
  Firefox hangs in Oneiric

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  Opinion

Bug description:
Every other page firefox will hang for approximately 1 - 2 minutes.
There is no indication that the same page hangs
It does not come regularly (sometimes, calling 10 to 20 pages works fine,
sometimes it happens after the second page, no longer than 30 pages called)
System Monitor indicates firefox process being Sleeping with
poll_schedule_timeout (not very informative)
  Compiz renders the windows gray
I happened only after upgrading to Oneric

Chromium does not show any of these signs (I did a parallel test on
  this)

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 887440] Re: Firefox hangs in Oneiric

2012-02-24 Thread stuartianmac
i should qualify, i get a non-grey screen pause of maybe 5 seconds every
20 seconds or so. I think it only doesn't grey screen because of the
length of the pause. I'm not recreating all tabs and groups!

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 887440] Re: Firefox hangs in Oneiric

2011-11-21 Thread David
I’ve also been experiencing regular hangs (every few seconds!) since
upgrading to Oneiric. I’ve finally found the culprit (for me):
sessionstore.js (in your Firefox profile). Deleting that file, together
with sessionstore.bak, restored Firefox’s performance (though I had to
recreate my tabs and groups). I have no idea why this wasn’t an issue
before the upgrade. Perhaps something in Oneiric is causing access to
that file to be slower than it was before; perhaps it’s just a
coincidence and the file got corrupted around the same time.

Does this fix work for anyone else?
