To load the live cd acpi=off needs to be added to the boot options and grub default command once setup for it to load. The wifi card is recognised by lspci (see below) but the network- manager (network selection tab) does not display any wireless networks. 02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x / AR542x Wireless Network Adapter (PCI-Express) (rev 01) I've plugged in a wifi dongle and updated to the latest kernel (3.0.0-14) but it is still not working. Nothing came up in jockey when searching for additional drivers. The battery icon is also missing although this has already been reported somewhere on the internet.
