Title:
cups printing HTML adds spacing between some fonts

Status in “gtk+3.0” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
Today I noticed when printing a report in HTML some of the words and
letters are spaced out across the page. I use a HP Laser Printer 1320
and have tried numerious drivers, but stil the error remains. I have
also had this issue with my home computer connected to a Canon MP140,
same again printing a html document.

I am running a fresh install of 12.04 Beta 1 on both machines and this
error occured in 11.10 as well. The only fix I could find was to set
the printing to generic text, but that is not ideal for running
  reports.

After printing to a PDF file the error still remains. It has
something to do with either CUPS, or the Gnome printing facility.

Please can someone look into this before the 12.04 LTS release. Make
  the printing precise.

2012-04-16 Thread Wolfgang Faust
I have also experienced this problem. This seems to be a problem in
Firefox 11.0's printing, as it did not occur in 3.6. This problem seems
to arise only after at least one document has been printed already.

2012-04-16 Thread Shanekpiper
I can confirm that this also has happened with Mozilla Thunderbird, the
only way around it is to print all emails as either generic text or
without HTML formatting.

2012-04-16 Thread Wolfgang Faust
I am subscribed to the bug, but I'm not quite sure what that has to do
with reporting it to Mozilla. I tried to change this bug to affecting
the firefox project, but for some reason launchpad thinks I didn't
provide a project name.

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 966949] Re: cups printing HTML adds spacing between some fonts

2012-03-28 Thread Till Kamppeter
This is most probably a problem of the application or its user interface
library GTK, as you tell that it also happens when printing to PDF. The
PDF printing feature in GTK's printing dialog does not involve CUPS at
all. It generates a PDF and saves the PDF at a user-selected place.

Please tell the URL (link) to the web page which you tried to print and
also which browser you have used.

2012-03-28 Thread Shanekpiper
The url of the website is mailchip.com, but I am unable to supply my
companies login details so you can access the report.

I also get this sometimes when printing to the HP laser printer. The
web browser I use is Firefox 11.0
