Same problem on ubuntu 12.10 amd64. Both in (ubuntu 12.04-provided)
kernel 3.2.0 and kernel 3.5.0.

So it looks it is not the kernel after all...

Title:
Switching problem between headphone speaker and microphone to laptop
built in speakers and front mic

Status in ALSA driver:
  New
Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
If I connect my head phone to my laptop it doesn't stop my laptop
built in speaker. Headphone works properly but at the same time laptop
speakers also plays. Headphone microphone behaves as same way.

It supposed to stop as soon as I connect my headphone to my laptop
which is not happening. And when I will remove my headphone from my
laptop the sound should immediately go to my laptop front speaker as
well as headphone mic/ external mic to front microphone.

I'm to restart my laptop every time to switch between headphone
speaker and mic to laptop built in speakers and front mic or vice
  versa .

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.04
My Laptop Model is -- Acer Aspire 4930G

[HDA-Intel - HDA Intel, playback] Playback problem -This also can
be which I removed from the summary to make it more practical.

@ Kazi Shahnoor Ashraf (kaziweb) and xsoul (ivyleexyg) - The following
commit in the upstream kernel 3.4 might help you:

ALSA: hda/realtek - Fix GPIO1 setup for Acer Aspire 4930 co

Add GPIO1 setup explicitly for Acer Aspire 493x co.
This could be set by alc_auto_init_amp(), but it's safer to set it
more explicitly in the fixup table.

Signed-off-by: Takashi Iwai

The upcoming Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal is based on the upstream 3.5
kernel and should contain this patch. Please advise whether or not this
problem still occurs on Ubuntu 12.10 beta 2, which is currently
available from www.ubuntu.com/testing

[Desktop-packages] [Bug 995684] Re: Switching problem between headphone speaker and microphone to laptop built in speakers and front mic

2012-09-23 Thread alin ciolompea
I found myself a solution: run
alsamixer
in the terminal
there you can mute (press m ) the headphone.
This is not a solution for a long time, but I think you cand handle the problem
for a while.
Bye! and Good luck!
