I agree with Nick's sentiment. 1.6.0 was feature complete, 1.6.1 is then
subtractive but otherwise leans on all the testing conducted previously.

We truly want to get 1.7.0 and timedlock mutex API's in users hands
a bit later this summer or early fall, so let's get this into trunk and 1.7.x
and see what breaks. I'm happy to commit the patch if you aren't yet
an APR committer.

No, I hadn't considered those.  This is an exercise in trying
to release an updated bundle of what we've got, not introducing
new things.

Hmm, so you've been pushing that for a while.  Sorry I've
missed it so far.  I'll try and take a look.

There may be a case for another release relatively soon
if I don't get my head around it for 1.6.1.

Certainly none from me however I have yet to get my Apache 2.4.x
builds running with the new 1.6.1 code. I should try that today.
