Re: [ANNOUNCE] Apache Arrow 0.10.0 released

2018-08-07 Thread Kouhei Sutou
Hi,

I've uploaded Ruby bindings:

  * https://rubygems.org/gems/red-arrow
  * https://rubygems.org/gems/red-arrow-gpu

And I've updated unofficial APT/Yum repositories at
packages.red-data-tools.org:

  https://github.com/red-data-tools/packages.red-data-tools.org

Now, the repositories use .deb/.rpm at
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/arrow/arrow-0.10.0/binaries/

By the way, can we remove
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/release/arrow/arrow-0.9.0/ ?

If we can do, can I try doing it?

Thanks,

@Julian

Sorry I misread your first comment. It looks like that's actually missing a
link. The sha256/sha512 link is also wrong.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Apache Arrow 0.10.0 released

2018-08-07 Thread Phillip Cloud
@Julian

First issue: the link should be to the sha256 checksum (we're not computing
the sha512 anymore):
https://www.apache.org/dist/arrow/arrow-0.10.0/apache-arrow-0.10.0.tar.gz.sha256
Second issue: I'm not sure what the issue is there. FWIW, they are not
there for the 0.9.0 release either, and I don't see them in the main
parquet project either:
http://apache.cs.utah.edu/parquet/apache-parquet-1.10.0/

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Apache Arrow 0.10.0 released

2018-08-07 Thread Julian Hyde
Congratulations!

One thing: on http://arrow.apache.org/install/
 there were the checksums (.tar.gz.asc and
.tar.gz.sha512), but I couldn’t find a link to the mirrors with the source
tarball (i.e. https://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/arrow/arrow-0.10.0/
). Did I miss it?
Meanwhile the http://arrow.apache.org/release/0.10.0.html
 has the source release but no
link to the checksums.

[ANNOUNCE] Apache Arrow 0.10.0 released

2018-08-07 Thread Phillip Cloud
The Apache Arrow community is pleased to announce the 0.10.0
release. This is a major release including 470 resolved
issues ([1]) since the 0.9.0 release.

The release is available now from our website and [2]:
http://arrow.apache.org/install/

Changelog
http://arrow.apache.org/release/0.10.0.html

Blog post about release

What is Apache Arrow?
-

Apache Arrow is a cross-language development platform for in-memory data. It
specifies a standardized language-independent columnar memory format for
flat
and hierarchical data, organized for efficient analytic operations on modern
hardware. It also provides computational libraries and zero-copy streaming
messaging and interprocess communication. Languages currently supported
include
C, C++, Go, Java, JavaScript, Python, and Ruby.

Please report any feedback to the mailing lists ([3])

Regards,
The Apache Arrow community
