Re: Release 1.9.1

2019-08-14 Thread Brian Lachniet
I'd like to see a 1.9.1 release as well. There are a number of improvements
and fixes to the C# bindings

committed
since 1.9.0.

There are only 3 open issues remaining

that are targeting a 1.9.1 release. Are there any others that we need to
get into this release? If so, we should probably update their "Fix Version"
to make it easier to see what we have left to do before we can release.

I've gone through the open C# bindings issues and don't see any others that
must be included in a 1.9.1 release.

Thanks,
Brian Lachniet

I'd be keen to include the fix for
[AVRO-2486|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AVRO-2486] C: fwrite failure
ignored, corrupting files

(I'm sure this is just classic example of why this repo should be split per
language!)

Release 1.9.1

2019-07-18 Thread Driesprong, Fokko
Hi all,

I would like to start on the release of Apache Avro 1.9.1. With the 1.9.0
we've released regression which blocks some projects from upgrading to the
new 1.9 branch.

Where AVRO-2400 is the
major issue. This same issue also appears while updating Avro at the
Iceberg project .
Therefore I think it is important to start releasing 1.9.1.

I've created a Jira ticket to keep track of the release:
https://jira.apache.org/jira/browse/AVRO-2476

Please let me know if there are any PR's/commits that you want to have in
this release so we can get an overview of what needs to be done.

Thank you and cheers,
Fokko Driesprong
