Re: :[VOTE] Apache Cloudstack 4.10.0.0
Hi, I am currently trying out the PR associated with CLOUDSTACK-9827. I have good and bad news to report: First the good news: Whether I create a primary storage and provide a storage tag or later edit a primary storage’s storage tag, the storage tag ends up in cloud.storage_pool_tags correctly. The bad news: I have an NFS SR as primary storage under CloudStack with a storage tag of NFS-A. I have a compute offering with a matching storage tag. I can’t seem to get a VM to spin up, however: It says insufficient capacity. The CPU, MHz, and memory are all low (and what I typically use), so I think the problem is with matching the storage tag. Github user anshul1886 commented on the issue: https://github.com/apache/cloudstack/pull/793 @koushik-das @sateesh-chodapuneedi @ramkatru @karuturi @rhtyd Regarding unit tests, I can't see any useful tests can be written here which I have already specified the reason for. Also we have already lot of unit tests which are wasting time to fix. Every now and then I am coming across unit tests which are not written in proper way and leads to waste of effort. As far as my understanding of unit test goes they are to reduce effort not increase. One example is in this PR's last jenkins run. That build was failed because one test is trying to download/copy file and that failed. As per my understanding unit tests should not do any thing which are dependent on external environments failure. As those kind of failures are bound to happen. As when those happen we have to go and check why that is failed wasting some time to understand. So ultimately we are wasting lot of effort currently because of tests not properly written. --- If your project is set up for it, you can reply to this email and have your reply appear on GitHub as well. 1. I think PR1991 that was merged today will resolve it 2. What are your settings for hypervisor.list and system.vm.default.hypervisor ? In some settings disabling cluster doesn’t have an intended affect. You might try unmanage your vmware cluster and re-try. I think one of the settings above can control where your router will end up. Thanks, Mike. BTW issue with storage tags will be addressed shortly On 3/8/17, 12:24 AM, "Tutkowski, Mike"wrote: OK, I have an update to report. I think we can close out both of these tickets as non issues. It appears I had inadvertently left in one modified file (I was playing around with fixing a bug for 4.11) in my code for RC1 (I’m using source, not a pre-built binary to test RC1). While I was waiting for something else to be fixed in RC1, I had made a few code changes in one file to test out an idea I had for a bug fix to go into 4.11. I had forgotten about this changed file and the bug fix wasn’t complete, so it looks like this caused both 9822 and 9823. I’d like to do more testing later (it’s about 1:30 AM here, so I’m starting to get a bit tired), but I can close those tickets out if my testing works out as expected. A new CloudStack environment running under RC1 with VMware places a ROOT-x-01.vmdk file in the VM’s folder for its root disk. However, in my new, clean environment, I cannot reproduce either of those issues I logged. I’m not sure how I got the system into whatever state it was in before, but a fresh install works. Let’s hold off on having anyone look into those tickets. I can play around with this more over the coming days and see if I can reproduce either or both issues. Thanks, Mike On 3/7/17, 9:10 AM, "Tutkowski, Mike" wrote: I believe the VM was deployed that way. Re: CLOUDSTACK-9822
OK, I have an update to report.
