   Hi @PaulAngus

red your mail at the mailing-list. This really is a bummer. Especially as
the feature is even now availeable for users with the new gui. Will be
intresting to see how things move on in this topic

need something more than detaching disk from source VM and attaching it to
destination VM that has already been implemented in CloudStack? Also these
features can be available for CSI because CloudStack support it:
Raw Blcok, Snapshot, Expansion, Cloning
But a volume in CloudStack can only operate in Read/Write Single Pod mode
not multiple pods.
You can see a list of already developed CSIs in this link:

if i not wrong CSI and CNI is already integrated in kubernetes.
To make it configurable about CS would be great idea.

I was wondering if it is feasible, as CloudStack does not provide storage
solutions like EBS, Azure disk, openstack cinder.
CloudStack kubernetes clusters should use other storage (for example NFS or
ceph) for persistent volumes.

The premise that 'advanced networking with security groups' with only one
network is equivalent to basic networking is completely wrong.

"basic networking" could be renamed but not removed.

Basic network CANNOT be deprecated as CloudStack is right now.

2021-03-12 Thread Paul Angus
Hi all,

I was doing some testing recently and found that the premise used to depreciate
'basic networking' is completely wrong.

Guest networks in basic networking, have ONE SUBNET PER POD, and a gateway per
pod for inter-pod guest traffic. Advanced networks with security groups'
guest networking has ONE SUBNET per VLAN, which spans the ENTIRE ZONE.

They may look very similar when there is only one cluster.
BUT THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT.

I'm all for renaming the network styles (basic and advanced is just
meaningless). But an 'advanced network with security groups' with one network
is nothing like a basic networking zone.

Kind regards

Paul Angus
