The reasons is that the source (Apache Project Directory) don't have any
information if the members is active or not. Removing "active" in the title
and have the list to just contain all current members (active or not) would
eliminate the need to match the results against the emeritus list.

[PROPOSAL] Remove the word active from project members on website

2016-02-24 Thread Jan-Arve Nygård
Hi all,

We now have a script to populate the project members list (
http://cloudstack.apache.org/who.html) on the website based on Apache
Project Directory. This makes it a lot easier to keep the list up to date.
The problem is that members manually moved to the emeritus will be added to
the list again each time.

A quick fix would be the remove the word "active" from the title of PMC and
committers while the emeritus sections still remains and can be updated
manually with members that are not active anymore.

Thoughts?

Checksum of uploaded volumes

2015-05-07 Thread Jan-Arve Nygård
Hi,

I'm seeing that md5sum is being run for every volume upload, even if no
checksum is specified during upload.

The checksum value in volume_store_ref is null but md5sum -c --status
seems to run for every upload on SSVM. No checksum seems to be written to
the table afterwards either but it seems to be written to a
volume.properties file on secondary storage.

I see that installvolume.sh is invoked with the checksum specified and i
wonder if this is necessary when the volume was uploaded without a checksum
if the first place and the VHD is already on the same storage. This could
save some time during upload of volumes, especially with large ones.

Does anyone know this upload/installation procedure better and maybe have a
good explanation of this behavior? Am i misunderstanding something here
maybe?

Subject: [ANNOUNCE] New committer: Erik Weber (terbolous)

The Project Management Committee (PMC) for Apache CloudStack has asked
Erik Weber to become a committer and we are pleased to announce that they
 have accepted.

Erik is doing a great job on helping the community thru the mailing list.
He helped a lot on testing and troubleshooting new releases of CloudStack
as well as contributing to the documentation. Thanks Erik and Congrat!

Being a committer allows many contributors to contribute more
autonomously. For developers, it makes it easier to submit changes and
eliminates the need to have contributions reviewed via the patch submission
process. Whether contributions are development-related or otherwise, it is
a recognition of a contributor's participation in the project and
commitment to the project and the Apache Way.

Please join me in congratulating Erik

 Pierre-Luc
on behalf of the CloudStack PMC
