Incubating projects are always welcome :)

Please collect your project ideas and label them with “gsoc2021” and
“mentor” as described here

I don't know if we have our website up and the process completely ready but
we're several months away. What I would suggest working on now is defining
projects to advertise for students. Remember that this year there are 1/2
the number of hours. And I would look for mentors on your project and get
them approved. That's probably about it for right now and then watch for
the announcement for applications.

Re: Invitation to participate with the ASF at GSoC 2021

2020-11-03 Thread Kevin A. McGrail
I would say +100 for an incubating project to participate in GSOC. It's all
about the mentors and the students getting exposed to open source software.

I would definitely start discussing it with your project and if you're
stepping up the mentor get approval and start thinking about projects that
would be good for students.

It is certainly possible. It requires each collection (project logo) to
be edited individually and there are a lot of them.

More generally, we probably need to go through and update the
collections, especially the older ones, with the items that have been
added since the collection was created.

I've just done Tomcat. One down, 55 to go.

Currently it is just Sharan and I that manage this. Any PMC member is
able to help - volunteers should ping me off list so I can take you
through the process.
