That's awesome Rich,

Thank you!

All: we're still short about two speaker slots. Is anyone else going to be
close to Hamburg in September? solutions.hamburg is 1.5 weeks before
ApacheCon...

I've added the event to
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/13qjsoZBFXYz7LDqPLka8Wm4mwdwA3EitTYQBmcYnN5A/edit#gid=0
so that we can promote it from @ApacheCon and @ApacheCommunity.

The proximity to ApacheCon makes it hard to give it the full attention
it deserves, but I'll do what I can.

Hi all,

For this year’s Solutions.Hamburg 2018 (12-14th September 2018, Hamburg
Germany) I managed to get the conference organizer to provide us with a free 3
day premium booth.
https://solutions.hamburg/

In addition to this the ASF will be having a Keynote, which Bertrand is kindly
doing.

Beyond this, there will be a 3,5 hour (half day) track about Open-Source which
the ASF will be sharing with the OSB-Alliance.
Here we have agreed on coordinating our talks so the topic Open-Source is
viewed from different angles. For the ASF part we would be looking for speakers
to give a 30 minute talk on the “Community” aspect of our work here at Apache
as well as a 30 minute talk on the “Transparency” aspect. (The talks and booth
support don’t have to be German, even if it would help)

So all in all we are looking for:

   * 1 Speaker for the “Community” talk
   * 1 Speaker for the “Transparency” talk
   * 3 people willing to help staff the booth

I think it would also be great if someone from the fundraising team could be on
board as there will be quite a bunch of people there with the ability to become
a sponsor.

We will get free tickets for all helpers and the biggest benefit will
definitely be the After party.
I guess the ones that attended last year will confirm that the definitely set
new standards regarding the party 

So who’s willing to help out?

Chris

Note that my keynote will be about how the ASF works, generally - we
might need to check for overlaps.

At this time I'm thinking of adapting my (4 years old now) "Open
Source at Scale" presentation,
https://www.slideshare.net/bdelacretaz/open-source-at-scale-the-apache-software-foundation
,
adding some words about how Apache software is everywhere, and people
often use it without knowing.

Currently there are still two unconfirmed slots:

1) One half hour talk about Apache regarding Transparency

2) One half hour talk about Apache regarding Community

So I guess both sort of feel like a divided "The Apache Way" talk. One part
concentrates on the transparency ("if it didn’t happen on the list, it didn't
happen") and one on the community ("community over code") aspect.

Hmmm ... ok ... I think these two tag lines (in brackets) will probably be the
default titles for the talks if I don't find volunteers to provide me with
others __
