initially there was a method FutureableInterceptor$ThreadPoolManager#register 
which allowed to register a custom ExecutorService *manually*.
there was never an "auto-register" in place.
you are correct that this map is always empty, the issue is that our discussion 
just stopped back then.
you are very welcome to start a discuss-thread on the dev-list (afair our 
options back then were config vs spi).
