Hi Dor,

DRILL-5214 is dependent on DRILL-1328 which is not present in Apache Master. So
the underlying issue might not be the same.

Could you please share more details e.g. the query and any query options you
maybe using?

Gautam

I don't think we test Drill in this 3-tier configuration .. i.e
Drill-->Hive-->Hbase.  It is mainly Drill-->Hive or Drill-->Hbase.
We would need to investigate why the filter pushdown did not get completely
propagated down to Hbase.Can you pls file a JIRA ?

RE: drill vs hive vs native hbase count

2017-12-13 Thread Dor Ben Dov
Hi Arina,

I am using 3 driibits on my 3 instances of cloudera cluster.
The data is located in Hbase and of course at the end as a file. How many
columns - 10.
The data is regular data but also jsons.
Does this helps ?

Dor

Hi Dor,

I guess you need to provide more information. Environment are using (how many
drillbits, where data is located (fs, dfs))?
Data format you are querying? How many columns in file?

Kind regards
Arina

Hi Everyone,

I tried the same query of 'select count(*) from table x' from hive, drill gui
(no hive) and natively using hbase count.

The hive and hbase native got the same result, but in Drill - I got a different
(higher) result.

What might be or causing this gap ?

Correct this is the exact issue, it looks like drill is trying to push while
hive doesn't pass it.
When you work without hive, it works fine.

It appears you are trying to use Drill to query an Hbase via Hive. It is
possible that Drill is not able to push down the filters to Hive, though I'm
not sure why.

Aman/Chunhui
Any idea why is Drill triggering a full table scan?

Subject: Drill over Hive

Hi

This is our query
select * from hive.mytable where key >= '0001:10:2017:0410:3157781'
  and key < '0001:10:2017:0410:3157782';

Same query in Drill over hbase takes less than a sec, in hive it takes few
seconds and with drill over hive it quits with a timeout.
When you look in the sql profile of drill (using the web), you see a table full
scan for millions of records, while actually it was supposed to return 9 rows.

Does Drill on top of hive is using the key to access only the relevant region
of the table?

Drill over Hive

2017-12-12 Thread Dor Ben Dov
Hi

This is our query
select * from hive.mytable where key >= '0001:10:2017:0410:3157781'
  and key < '0001:10:2017:0410:3157782';

Same query in Drill over hbase takes less than a sec, in hive it takes few
seconds and with drill over hive it quits with a timeout.
When you look in the sql profile of drill (using the web), you see a table full
scan for millions of records, while actually it was supposed to return 9 rows.

Does Drill on top of hive is using the key to access only the relevant region
of the table?

drill vs hive vs native hbase count

2017-12-12 Thread Dor Ben Dov
Hi Everyone,

I tried the same query of 'select count(*) from table x' from hive, drill gui
(no hive) and natively using hbase count.

The hive and hbase native got the same result, but in Drill - I got a different
(higher) result.

What might be or causing this gap ?

Regards,
Dor

Thanks Paul.
It seems that it's already done, will it be in 1.12 ?

Hi Dor,

There is a pull request for Drill-on-YARN support in Apache Drill and YARN. You
can download that PR and do your own build. See [1].

Yulia,
I ran 'mvn -U -Dskip.Tests clean install -Pcdh' isn't this enough?
What am I missing on cloudera?
When I am taking drill to hortonworks, it work well by the way.

Feels like you can't access:
https://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/org/apache/apache/14/apache-14.pom
as no other repo contain that pom.

exception using drill with CDH 5.8.2

2017-07-31 Thread Dor Ben Dov
Hi,

I configured drill according to the documentation, which means using the web
interface with the following:
{
  "type": "hbase",
  "config": {
"hbase.zookeeper.quorum": "10.238.64.198",
"hbase.zookeeper.property.clientPort": "2181"
  },
  "size.calculator.enabled": false,
  "enabled": true
}
Trying to use drill with my CDH 5.8.2 and I am receiving the following
exception : any ideas?
